NSGHS Assessment and Reporting Procedures
NSGHS Assessment and Reporting Procedures
The NSGHS Assessment and Reporting Procedures provide a fair and equitable system for all students and adhere to NESA ACE Rules, NESA Assessment and Reporting, NESA Assessment Principles. NESA Assessment Certification Examination (ACE) manuals and integrate DoE assessment and reporting, DoE Assessment advice and resources, CESE What Works Best, and the DoE School Excellence Framework V3 to support an integrated and consistent approach to quality teaching, assessment, and curriculum planning and delivery.
In accordance with the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA) requirements, the NSGHS Assessment and Reporting Procedures outline a standards-referenced approach to assessing and reporting student achievement through differentiated curriculum and assessment. The procedures also outline clear expectations and common language around the types of evidence teachers use to form a complete picture of each student’s learning and to target teaching.
Assessment and reporting take place in a culture of Growth-Oriented Learning, which focuses on students developing explicit and challenging academic personal best goals (PBs) that enable them to develop a positive growth orientation. Within this culture, students are supported to reach their highest possible standards of achievement by developing the skills to become reflective, self-directed learners who take responsibility for their own learning.
The NSGHS Assessment and Reporting Procedures underpin the school’s commitment to prepare our students to become successful future citizens and leaders, who can think critically and creatively and work effectively and respectfully with others to solve problems. To this end, assessment in Stages 4 and 5 is aligned with the curriculum focus on Conceptual Programming.
The NSGHS Assessment and Reporting Procedures are clearly communicated to the school community and are updated annually to reflect changes in syllabuses, curriculum or school protocols.
